Women’s & Men’s Health in Coorparoo
Health needs can differ depending on many factors, including sex and gender. At Coorparoo Clinic, our GPs provide confidential, non-judgemental consultations for a wide range of gender-specific health concerns. Whether you are due for routine screening or have something specific you would like to discuss, we are here to help.
All consultations are handled with care and respect for your privacy.
Women’s health
Our GPs are experienced in supporting women through all life stages — from adolescence through to menopause and beyond.
Cervical screening — regular cervical screening (previously known as a Pap smear) is recommended every five years for women aged 25 to 74 who have ever been sexually active. Your GP will guide you through the current National Cervical Screening Program requirements and let you know when you are due.
Breast examinations — a clinical breast examination may be recommended as part of a broader health check. Your GP can also advise on breast self-examination and refer you for mammography through BreastScreen Queensland where appropriate.
Hormonal health — changes to your menstrual cycle, perimenopause, menopause, or concerns about hormonal balance can be discussed confidentially. Your GP can arrange relevant blood tests and discuss options for management.
Mirena insertions and removals — the Mirena intrauterine system (hormonal IUD) can be inserted and removed at the clinic. Your GP will discuss whether it may be a suitable contraceptive option for you based on your individual circumstances.
Sexual health — if you would like STI screening, advice on contraception, or have questions about sexual health, our GPs can assist in a private, confidential setting.
Men’s health
Men’s health concerns are sometimes left unaddressed for too long. Our GPs encourage men to attend regular check-ups and to discuss any concerns early.
Prostate health — discussion of prostate health, including PSA testing and what results may mean, is something your GP can assist with. Testing is generally recommended for men aged 50 and over, or earlier for those with a family history.
Testicular health — unexplained lumps, swelling, or discomfort should be assessed promptly. Your GP can examine and arrange further investigation if needed.
Cardiovascular and metabolic risk — men are statistically at higher risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Regular health checks that include blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood glucose monitoring may be recommended.
Sexual and hormonal health — concerns about libido, erectile function, or hormone levels can be discussed openly with your GP.
